Classifications
Championship/Open: Anyone
except High School students, to comply with NCAA rules.
Club: Rowers of any age or experience
who have not competed for any country on a Senior, Under 23, or Junior
national team within the last 10 years, nor rowed in the finals of a national
championship regatta (NCAA, IRA, Dad Vail, USRowing) within the last 5 years.
No junior crews, rowers or coxswains as per NCAA rules.
College: Events open to students enrolled
full time in an undergraduate academic program at their institution.
Freshman: All members of the crew must be
enrolled in college for their freshman year. No restrictions are placed on
experience.
Lightweight: Men - Maximum 165 pounds Women -
Maximum 135 pounds
Masters: Age of individuals and crews must
average 27 1 years and up, using USRowing age categories (including the
USRA-approved "AA" Masters category for rowers aged 21-26 as of the
current calendar year). Handicaps will apply to categories as indicated on
the schedule.
Mixed: Crews will be comprised of an
equal number of men and women. Novice: All novice rowers shall be in their
first year of rowing or sculling at the school or college level. Only novice
college coxswains may cox college novice events. Previous experience in
sculling will not count toward a sweep event, and previous experience in
sweep rowing will not count toward a sculling event.
Recreational: The boat being raced must have a
beam greater than 38 cm at the waterline. (Little River ProAm, Alden Star (or
greater) recreational singles.)
Youth: A rower or coxswain who does not
attain the age of 19 during the current calendar year or who is continuously
enrolled in a secondary school seeking a diploma. A Youth rower must be in
high school.
